Alex Freeman is a dedicated school psychologist serving as the CBHM Instructional Coach for Boston Public Schools' Behavioral Health Services. In this role, which he began in March 2024, Alex oversees the coordination and delivery of professional development for school psychologists and provides one-on-one coaching to support implementation of the Comprehensive Behavioral Health Model across the district.
Alex joined Boston Public Schools as a school psychologist in 2015. At Haley Pilot School he facilitated the CBHM and School Wellness Council teams, leading practices such as PBIS lesson plans, student leadership electives, buddy classrooms, and reinforcement systems that were recognized at the BPS Wellness Summit. He has designed district-level trainings on de-escalation, data-based decision-making, and universal behavioral screening with the BIMAS-2, and has presented at the NASP Conference, Tufts University, the BPS-BTU Summer Institute, and community events for families and educators.
In 2025 Alex received the National Association of School Psychologists' Model School Psychology Intern Supervisor Recognition, which honors field-based supervisors who demonstrate best practices in the mentoring and supervision of interns.
Before Boston, Alex directed nonprofit mentoring and youth development programs and began his career as a Teach For America special education teacher in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He holds an Ed.S. and master's in School Psychology from Tufts University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
